Nokia N8 Smartphone
Nokia N8 Smartphone is one of the latest invention of Nokia for the world But the sad part of the story is that it has emerged this past week that the Nokia N8 SMARTPHONE has been suffering power problems that have rendered the device virtually useless for a subset of its users.
It is estimated that Unspecified number of affected customers all over the world turned aganist Nokia N8 Smartphone.
Speaking to Reuters, Niklas Savander, who is Nokia’s sales chief, said the Nokia N8 Smartphone power issue, where the smartphone would turn off by itself and not come back on, was experienced by ‘a limited number of N8 Smartphone users’. A spokesperson later said the problem arose in production, and has since been fixed, so it is likely to affect early adopters only, with Savander reaffirming that ‘the total number of affected users was “a small number.” The rumour spread like a wild fire when it is about a Nokia Smartphone.
Troubled history
The Nokia N8 Smartphone, which was supposed to mark the Finnish mobile phones giant’s main weapon against iphone, has been troubled since inception. Though it was scheduled to reach consumers as far back as June, Nokia only began a staggered roll out in November. These problems were attributed to Symbian^3 development timelines slipping, only to later have the mobile OS slated for not being up to modern standards.
Before appropriating excessive blame to Nokia for this manufacturing fault, one needs to be mindful that these types of issues accompany many high profile smartphones. Apple, for example, has had various issues, including antenna gate and glass gate, with its iPhone 4, as have a number of high profile Google Android handsets.
The only difference – and perhaps why the media is paying excessive attention to Nokia’s woes – is that the Finnish mobile phones giant is trying to a recovery after years of dominance was interrupted by a sharp decline in profits. It’s a classic ‘fall of the giants tale’, and watching Nokia Smartphone recover will make for a great business case study one day.
In short, if you were intending on purchasing a Nokia N8, hold off your purchase for a few weeks, until the bad batch has been cleared from market. As i Mentioned last day there may be a chance of a price slash also in the coming weeks.
American Media aganist Nokia Smartphone

In my oppinion they hate anything that is not American I 'm talking about the media there not the people. Now they love Motorola, Sony, Samsung... just because they use an OS produced by Americans??
Unfortunately there's no perfect phone... Blackberry has the best push mail, and nothing more; iPhone has the best touch screem and internet; Android is an improved symbian... and for them it's ok. But if Nokia has not the "best everything" so forget it, it's crap...
Nokia is not the best, but it's the right one for a lot of people. For example, I'd love to have an iPhone, but I can't imagen myself answering long e-mails with no qwert keyboard and I love the test apps that I chose, not that someone chose for me.
And the funniest part is that while the american media protects the American products from Europeans products... there's a lot of Europeans that agree with them when they are not even fair!!!

Cheap Price Nokia N8
Nokia N 8 smart phone is getting Cheep in price. The phone competing with Apple i phone is now much cheaper than i phone. It is observed that a price slash of about 20% on Nokia N8. And is going to be much cheaper within a month as expertise analysis the situation. The main reason behind this price slash is due to certain manufacturing defects on Nokia N8. The phone seems to be switch off in certain cases and the company now accepts there are some slight manufacturing defects on N8. So it is expected that a price cut in Nokia N8 in close future. Spend a 400$ on N8 is worth, anything more is a waste.
Nokia N8 review in simple words
The phone-loving world has its eyes turned toward Nokia for the launch of the N8 smart phone, the manufacturer's first Symbian ^3 OS phone. Unlike Symbian 9.x with S60 5th Edition, Symbian ^3 is made from the ground up for touch rather than glomming touch...
Superb camera, vibrant multi-touch display, modern OS, great battery life, excellent call quality, has 3G for all GSM networks, lots of internal storage plus a microSD card slot, can play Flash video
OS is modern but not captivating, phone sometimes lags, browser is sometimes sluggish, battery isn't user replaceable, Ovi Maps navigation is weird in the US but good in Europe
running Maemo a bit, and if you imagine a merging of the old Nokia Symbian look with a pinch of Maemo, you've got Symbian ^3 on the N8. This is certainly the best mainstream touch phone that Nokia has produced.

Nokia N8 Manufactor's defect.
Different parts of the world, issues are coming out regarding the performance of the new Nokia N8. If you found any problem related to your phone rush to the dealer immediately.Nokia's problem is not appearing to cease! Nokia N8, the much-hyped Smartphone powered by Symbian ^3 OS and with impressive hardware specs seems to have hit by nagging problems. Owners of Nokia N8 worldwide are reporting power problems. Some N8 handsets appear to switch itself off and refuses to turn on even after charging! Nokia has attributed this to a manufacturing defect. The problem is covered in the standard manufacturer's warranty. So, if you are affected by this problem, immediately approach your nearest Nokia Service centre. Going by the number of cases, I am expecting a delay in getting your phone fixed.
Nokia's EVP and general manager Niklas Savander issued a video statement 22 November to address this issue. The problem is connected to the way Nokia assembles the phones' main circuit board containing basic electronics and radio-frequency components, according to Savander. According to him, only a "small" number of users are affected by this. But it doesn't make sense, because it is a manufacturing defect and not some random product defects!

N8 or Others?
Why N8?
I know a lot of people are planning to buy the new N8, and you will have a lot of questions in your mind related to the quality of the phone and here is your answer for the question Why N8?
The phone is fantastic, feels beautiful in hand and the bullet shaped ends look a lot better in person than in pictures and they give it an excellent feel, it weights 135 gms, and is the best smart phone to hold on the market right now.....Go to the main page link Why N8?
Nokia Smartphone
The world’s largest smartphone maker has a lot riding on the N8, which it’s rolling out worldwide these days. The Finnish company has been hemorrhaging marketshare -- down to 37.4 per cent in the second quarter, from 45 per cent a year earlier -- recently replaced its chief executive and has announced the departures of two key managers.
The N8 represents Nokia’s biggest effort thus far to right the ship. N8 is such a device which can be used as a camera a navigator or as a palm computer. And though it improves on previous offerings, it doesn’t come close to matching the state of the art as defined by Apple Inc’s iPhone 4 and the best devices from Motorola Inc, HTC Corp and Samsung that use Google Inc’s Android operating system.
Smartphones rise or fall on their hardware, software and the apps and services available. The N8 does well on the first and decently on the third; where it falls short is on No. 2. The symbian operating system do it well for Nokia.
The N8’s software, called Symbian3, is an updated version of the software that’s been powering Nokia phones for several years. But “updated” isn’t the same as “up to date,” and while it has some nice touches it’s still behind the times.
For example, when you write an email or send a text message and hold the phone in portrait -- that is, upright -- position, the touchscreen defaults to a telephone-style numeric keypad. For some users, that will be a trip down Wireless-Phone Memory Lane, back to those halcyon days when typing the letter “s” meant hitting the “7” key four times. Most people, however, will likely be annoyed at always having to flip the phone sideways to get a QWERTY keyboard.
The N8 also sometimes requires you to go through a multistep process to perform what ought to be a simple task. Answering an email, for instance, requires you to first hit an “Options” button, then choose “Reply” from a menu. And the software feels sluggish at times, such as when sliding between the three available home screens.
Physically, the phone is mostly impressive. The scratch- resistant, anodized-aluminum case makes it both look and feel like a premium product. Not all of the five colors are to my taste except the dark steel.-- bright orange, anyone? -- but to each their own. The phone feels solid and good in the hand and, at 4.8 ounces, weighs just about the same as iPhone 4 even though it’s thicker.
The reason for that extra thickness is also the most impressive thing about the N8: the camera, which protrudes slightly from the back. It’s among the best I’ve seen in a mobile phone, not only for its resolution but for its operation in both idiot-proof mode (when I was using it) and under manual control. There’s autofocus, built-in face-detection technology and 2X digital zoom for still photos.
The N8 also shoots 720p video -- it includes an HDMI port and adapter cable for viewing on a high-definition TV -- and has a front-facing, lower-resolution camera as well for video calls. I found the 3.5-inch screen acceptable but nowhere near as good as the displays found on Apple and Samsung handsets.
The N8’s battery was able to get me through a full day of moderate to heavy use. Good thing, because -- like the iPhone, and unlike just about every other smartphone -- the battery isn’t replaceable by the user.
In Apple’s case, the non-swappable battery is a reflection of Steve Jobs’s desire to control the entire user experience. Here, the decision just seems eccentric, like Saab putting the ignition switch next to the shifter. I also found myself concerned about the little trap doors covering the slots for your carrier’s SIM card and an SD storage card. I was afraid they would snap off, though I eventually concluded they were sturdier than they seemed.
Nokia can’t compete with the iPhone and Android devices in terms of the number of available applications. Still, I found its Ovi services -- which include a very good mapping application, calendar and mail, among others -- to be thorough and well-integrated into the N8. Nokia is also building out Ovi as a platform for third-party developers, although to access their wares you first have to install the Ovi Store application itself; it doesn't come pre-loaded on the phone.

Nokia N8 first impression
First Impression
The camera is amazing, 12 Mp Pixel size, quality of the photos is as good as from a 'regular' camera. The picture quality is that of a SLR camera with a good pixel size. Also videos are very good - sharp and recorded voice is very clear. As it has two microphones you can also easily distinguish between ambient sounds and person talking.
What more can I say - very good phone, loads of features, great camera and seems to be very solid. probably due to metal body.
The only downside is battery life - I've been using it quite a lot tho - gps, wifi, texting and phone calls - still last for about a day and a half. Font worry it is easy to recharge and is fast also.
Different colours are available but either prefer dark steel or Silver, that gives a shine to this palm computer.

The operating system, Symbian OS
The Symbian OS is new and its much quicker and easier to use than previous 5th edition which the n97 and 5800 had. This is the best user friendly operating system in the present market available. easy to use and a lot of applications in the Ovi store. Love the FM transmitter for playing mp3s through the car stereo no wires required for this, just bought a Cr-122 nokia cradle for the car and this fits like a glove and is great for the satnav function on the phone which is up there if not better than tom tom etc. the ovi store offers hd games which are psp quality. look this phone is the business the best and i would recommend it to all. Nokia N8 is great.
For application Downloading the OS performs great and it is very much handy. There is no delay or any other problem with this OS. Love this phone.
